Account & Sign-In

How do I create an account?
Tap Sign Up on the home page. You can sign in with your Google account or enter your email to receive a one-time code. No password needed — ever.
Why don't you use passwords?
Passwords are easy to forget and hard to keep secure. We use Google sign-in and email one-time codes instead. Every time you sign in, we verify your identity through Google or a fresh code sent to your inbox — no password to leak or reset.
What is a one-time code?
When you sign in with your email, we send a 6-digit code to your inbox. Enter it on the sign-in page and you're in. The code expires after a few minutes for security.
I didn't receive my sign-in code.
Check your spam or junk folder first. The email comes from our system within a few seconds. If it still doesn't arrive, make sure you entered the correct email address and try again. If the problem persists, contact support.
How do I change my email address?
Email changes aren't self-service yet. Please contact support and we'll update it for you.
How do I delete my account?
Contact support and we'll permanently delete your account and all associated data.

Getting Started

How does CardFinch work?
Pick a card template (or design your own), choose your recipients, write a message, and check out. We print, stuff, stamp, and mail real physical cards on your behalf.
What are my first 3 free cards?
Every new account gets 3 cards completely free — including printing, envelope, and postage. They're applied automatically at checkout, no code required.
Do free cards expire?
No. Your 3 free cards stay available until you use them, no matter how long you've had your account.

Card Types & Sizes

What card formats do you offer?
We offer two formats: 5×7" flat postcards (2 sides) and 5×7" folded greeting cards (4 panels: front, inside left, inside right, and back). Greeting cards are available in portrait or landscape orientation.
What's the difference between a postcard and a greeting card?
A postcard is a single flat card with a front and back. A greeting card is folded with four panels and arrives in an envelope — perfect for more personal messages or when you want to include a gift card.
What size are the cards?
All cards are 5×7" — a classic, substantial size that stands out in the mailbox.
What paper stock and print quality should I expect?
Cards are printed on premium heavy cardstock with vibrant full-color printing on all sides.
Do cards come with envelopes?
Greeting cards always include an envelope. Postcards are mailed without an envelope, like a traditional postcard.

Designing Cards

Can I use a pre-made template?
Absolutely. Browse our template library by occasion — birthday, holiday, thank you, congrats, sympathy, and more. Pick one, personalize the message, and send.
How does the card editor work?
Our drag-and-drop editor lets you customize every aspect of your card — add text, images, shapes, and backgrounds. You can start from a template or a blank canvas.
Can I upload my own photos or images?
Yes. The editor supports image uploads so you can add personal photos, logos, or artwork to your card.
Can I reuse a design I made before?
Yes. Any card you design is saved to "My Designs" and appears alongside templates when you start a new order. You can reuse it as many times as you like.
The card editor isn't loading — what do I do?
Try refreshing the page or using a different browser (Chrome or Edge work best). Make sure your browser isn't blocking third-party scripts. If it still won't load, try clearing your cache or disabling browser extensions.

AI Image Generation

How does AI image generation work?
In the card editor, open the AI panel and describe the image you'd like — for example, "a watercolor sunset over mountains." We'll generate a unique image you can place directly into your card design.
Why was my AI image prompt rejected?
Our AI provider has content policies that block certain types of requests — for example, images of real public figures, violent or explicit content, or trademarked characters. Try rephrasing your prompt or describing the scene differently. Generic descriptions work best.
What kind of prompts work best?
Be descriptive about style and mood. "Soft watercolor flowers in pastel colors" will produce better results than just "flowers." Mention art styles (watercolor, illustration, photograph) and color palettes for the best output.
Can I edit or refine an AI-generated image?
Yes. You can generate a new variation using the same or a modified prompt, or use the editor's built-in tools to crop, resize, and position the image on your card.

Pricing & Payment

How much do cards cost?
Postcards start at $5.00/card and greeting cards at $6.50/card, with volume discounts for larger orders. See our pricing page for full details.
What's included in the per-card price?
Everything — printing, the envelope (for greeting cards), postage, and mailing. No hidden fees.
How does volume pricing work?
The more cards in your order, the less you pay per card. Discounts kick in at 25 and 100 cards. The volume tier applies across all cards in a single checkout.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay through our payment processor, Stripe.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
Can I get a refund?
If your order hasn't been confirmed (sent to the printer) yet, we can cancel it and issue a full refund. Contact support as soon as possible — once an order is confirmed with the printer, it can no longer be refunded.

Free Cards & Promo Codes

How do the first 3 free cards work?
Your first 3 cards are on us — no code needed. The discount is applied automatically at checkout. Free cards cover the full per-card cost including printing and postage.
How do I use a promo code?
Enter your code in the promo code field on the cart page before checking out. The discount will be reflected in your order total.
Why isn't my promo code working?
A few things to check: the code may have expired, reached its usage limit, or require a minimum number of cards in your order. Make sure you're entering it exactly as it was given to you (codes are not case-sensitive).
Can I stack a promo code with free cards?
Yes. Free cards are applied first, and then the promo code discount applies to any remaining cards in your order.
Where can I find promo codes?
We share promo codes through our emails, social media, and occasionally on the site. Keep an eye out for seasonal promotions.

Recipients & Messages

How do I choose who to send a card to?
During the order flow, you can pick from your saved contacts, select an entire send list, or enter a new recipient's name and address on the spot.
Can I send the same card to multiple people at once?
Yes. Add as many recipients as you'd like — each person gets their own individually printed and mailed card.
Can I write a different message for each recipient?
Yes. When sending to multiple people, you can choose "Individual messages" to customize what each person receives.
What does "{{firstname}}" do?
It's a personalization placeholder. If your message says "Happy birthday, {{firstname}}!" each recipient's card will be printed with their actual first name — e.g., "Happy birthday, Sarah!"
Do recipients need a full mailing address?
Yes. Since we mail physical cards via USPS, every recipient needs a complete US mailing address (street, city, state, and ZIP code).
Can I add a new recipient on the fly during checkout?
Yes. There's an option to enter a new recipient's name and address directly in the order flow without saving them to your address book first.

Scheduling & Print Dates

What is the "Print Date"?
The print date is the day we send your order to the printer. It's not the day the card arrives — allow 8–12 days after printing for delivery.
What does "ASAP" mean?
If you leave the print date blank, we'll send your order to print as soon as your payment is confirmed.
How far in advance should I schedule?
Set the print date 8–12 days before you want the card to arrive. For example, if you want a birthday card to arrive by March 20, set the print date to around March 8–12.
Can I change or cancel a scheduled order before it prints?
If your order hasn't been sent to print yet, you can contact support to modify or cancel it. Once it's at the printer, changes aren't possible.

Delivery & Shipping

How long does delivery take after printing?
Cards typically arrive 8–12 days after the print date, depending on USPS delivery times to the recipient's area.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet — we currently only mail to US addresses. International delivery is on our roadmap.
Can I track my card?
You can follow your order's progress through the statuses on your Orders page (processing → printing → mailed). Individual USPS tracking numbers are not available at this time.
What happens if a card is undeliverable?
If a card is returned as undeliverable (wrong address, etc.), we'll update the order status. Double-check your recipient addresses before ordering, or contact support if you need to resend.

Order Statuses

What do the order statuses mean?
  • Pending — Waiting for payment confirmation.
  • Processing — Payment received; preparing your order to send to the printer.
  • Printing — Your cards are at the print house being produced.
  • Mailed — Cards have been printed and handed off to USPS.
  • Failed — Something went wrong (see below).
My order shows "failed" — what happened?
This usually means there was a payment issue or a problem generating print files. Contact support with your order number (e.g., CF0000001) and we'll help resolve it.
What is my order number?
Your order number is displayed on the confirmation page and in your order history. It looks like "CF0000001" and is the quickest way to reference an order when contacting support.

Gift Cards

Can I include a gift card with my card?
Yes — when sending a greeting card (not a postcard), you can add a digital gift card that's printed inside the card with a unique redemption code for each recipient.
Which gift card brands are available?
We offer 500+ brands including Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, and many more. You can search by name or browse by category during the order flow.
How do gift card denominations work?
Some brands have fixed values (e.g., $25 or $50 only), while others let you choose any amount within a range (e.g., $10–$200). The options are shown when you select a brand.
Is there a processing fee for gift cards?
There's a small $0.05 per-card processing fee for gift card fulfillment, on top of the gift card face value.
How does the recipient redeem the gift card?
A unique redemption code is printed on the inside of the greeting card. The recipient enters it on the gift card brand's website — just like any other digital gift card.
Can I include a gift card with a postcard?
No — gift cards are only available with folded greeting cards, since the code is printed on the inside panel. Choose "Greeting Card" as your card type to include one.

Contacts & Address Book

How do I add contacts?
Go to your Address Book and tap "Add Contact." Enter their name, address, birthday, and any custom tags or events.
Can I import contacts from Google?
Yes. On the import page, connect your Google account and we'll pull in your contacts with their names, addresses, and birthdays.
Can I import contacts from a CSV or vCard file?
Yes. We support CSV and VCF (vCard) file uploads. Our import wizard walks you through mapping your columns to the right fields.
What format should my CSV file be in?
Include columns for first name, last name, and address fields. We auto-detect common headers like "First Name," "Last," "Street," "City," "State," and "ZIP." The import wizard lets you adjust the mapping if needed.
How does duplicate detection work during import?
We check for existing contacts with the same first and last name. If we find potential duplicates, you can choose to merge the new data into the existing contact or create a separate entry.
What are tags and how do I use them?
Tags are labels you can apply to contacts — like "Family," "Work," or "Holiday list." Use them to filter your address book or quickly find groups of people.
Can I add custom events like anniversaries?
Yes. Each contact can have multiple custom events (e.g., "Wedding Anniversary," "Work Anniversary") with dates. These events show up on your calendar so you never miss them.

Lists & Sharing

What are lists?
Lists (also called send lists) are reusable groups of contacts — like "Holiday 2026" or "Work Team." When you start an order, you can select an entire list to send to everyone at once.
How do I create and manage a list?
Go to Send Lists, tap "New List," give it a name, and add contacts. You can add or remove members at any time.
Can I share a list with someone else?
Yes. On any list, tap "Share" and enter the other person's email address. They'll get access to the list on their own CardFinch account.
What's the difference between editor and viewer roles?
Editors can add and remove contacts from the shared list. Viewers can only use the list to send cards — they can't change its membership.

Return Addresses

Do I need a return address?
A return address is optional but recommended. If a card is undeliverable, USPS will return it to your return address.
How do I set a default return address?
Go to Settings → Return Addresses and mark an address as default. It will be auto-selected each time you create an order.
Can I save multiple return addresses?
Yes. Save as many as you need (e.g., home and office) and choose which one to use for each order.

Calendar

What does the calendar show?
The calendar displays US holidays, your contacts' birthdays, and any custom events you've added — so you can see at a glance when to send cards.
What holidays are included?
Major US holidays — New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more.
Can I send a card directly from a calendar event?
Yes. Click on any event to see details, then tap "Send Card" to jump straight into the order flow with that contact pre-selected.

Notifications

What email notifications will I receive?
We can send you three types of notifications: order status updates, occasion reminders (upcoming birthdays and events), and scheduled print reminders. You can manage all of these in Settings.
How do I turn off notifications?
Go to Settings and toggle off any notification type you don't want.
What are occasion reminders?
Email reminders sent before upcoming birthdays and custom events on your contacts, giving you time to send a card before the date.
What are scheduled print reminders?
If you've scheduled an order for a future print date, we'll email you a reminder before it goes to print — giving you a chance to make changes or cancel.

Cart & Checkout

Can I add multiple cards to my cart?
Yes. You can add different card designs for different recipients and check out everything at once. Volume pricing applies across all items in the same checkout.
What happens if I leave items in my cart?
Your cart is saved to your account. Items will still be there when you come back — even if you close the browser.
My order total is $0 — do I still need to check out?
If free cards and promo codes bring your total to $0, you'll skip the payment step entirely. Just tap "Place Order" and your cards will be sent to print.
I clicked "Back" during checkout — what happened?
No worries. If you leave the Stripe payment page without completing checkout, nothing is charged and your cart items are preserved. Just go back to your cart and try again.

Privacy & Security

What personal information do you collect?
We store your name, email, saved contacts, addresses, order history, and card designs. We don't store payment card numbers — those are handled entirely by Stripe.
Who processes my payment?
All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor. We never see or store your credit card number.
Do you share my data with third parties?
We share data only with the services needed to fulfill your order — our print partner, Stripe for payments, and Tango for gift cards. We never sell your personal information.

Troubleshooting

I can't sign in or my one-time code isn't arriving.
Check your spam folder. If the code still doesn't arrive, make sure you're entering the exact email address on your account. Try again after a minute — codes are rate-limited for security.
My promo code says "invalid" or "expired."
Double-check the code for typos. The code may have expired, reached its usage limit, or require a minimum number of cards. If you believe it should work, contact support with the code and we'll look into it.
I'm getting a "rate limit" error.
This happens when too many requests are made in a short time. Wait a minute and try again. If it keeps happening, try refreshing the page.
My contact import failed.
Make sure your CSV has headers and that name fields are filled in. For Google imports, ensure you've granted CardFinch permission to access your contacts. If a specific row fails, the import wizard will show you which rows had issues.
The card editor won't load.
The editor requires a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. Try Chrome or Edge, disable ad blockers or privacy extensions temporarily, and clear your cache. If it still won't load, contact support.
